Audio-visual (AV) needs

In order that you can benefit most from Seamus Phan's programs, here are some guidelines for staging, lighting, microphone, sound system, and presentation equipment requirements. Seamus is very flexible and can adapt to most environments, and he is open to your suggestions.

1. Staging:

If you're using a stage, try to position the first row of seats within 3 feet (1 meter) from the stage, if possible.

If a podium is being used for introductions, set it back a few feet (1 meter) from the front of the stage so that Seamus can walk in front of it.

2. Lighting:

People remember more, respond more and laugh more in bright conditions. Dim the screen area (by unscrewing ceiling bulbs), but leave full room lights on during the program. Seamus needs to see their faces.

Seamus moves around during his speech and mingles with the audience. If the room has any spotlights, aim them for a general wash of the very front center 15 feet (5 meters) of the stage.

3. Audio-Visual Materials:

a. Wireless (TIE CLIP) microphone needed. This is a MUST. For some events, if you do not have a wireless clip microphone, let Seamus know early, so that he may bring his own wireless microphone set.

b. Podium microphone for introductions.

c. Standing microphone for audience questions.

d. Seamus will bring his own laptop PC - an Apple Macintosh iBook or PowerBook (1024 by 768 pixels). Seamus is equipped with his own presentations. All you need to provide is a screen, a compatible computer projection system, and the cable to connect the computer projection system to Seamus' laptop. If you are using front screen projection, please place the screen at front left or right corner of room. If you are using rear screen projection, the screen placement is at your discretion. Remember to provide an audio-out cable (headphone to your PA or sound system) so that Seamus can play back audio embedded in video demonstrations.

e. Whiteboard (standing), with horizontal format preferred.

f. Flipchart (standing, 2 sets), with erasable markers.

4. Recording Devices:

Studio/video taping is encouraged WITH PRIOR WRITTEN AUTHORIZATION. Seamus requires a high-quality copy in either NTSC or PAL DVcam or mini DV. If you're interested in taping Seamus' presentation, please contact us.
